Hello MME fam, Iām a first time car buyer and bought home my custom order ā23 Premium RWD (std range battery) last week. I did some research in this group before heading to the dealership and that helped me to vocally reject any dealership add-ons that the finance team tried to sell me at an insane price (such as extended warranty, care plans, etc)
However I somehow ended up falling for and purchasing the following two packages, which now that I think about, paid an unnecessary high price (??)
Windshield protection: $1000 for 60 months, 0 deductible. I checked with my Statefarm insurance that I have āglass protectionā as part of comprehensive coverage currently with $500 deductible. But I can reduce that deductible to $100 or $0 with only a $25-$30 increase in my 6-month premium cost. So Iām almost certain to cancel this windshield protection.
GAP insurance: $900 for 72 months. I paid MSRP for my MME with $10k down, and 72mo financing @ 4.49 rate. I donāt know much about the worth of GAP insurance but my study summarizes that āif you paid MSRP with a decent downpayment, then itās not worth buying GAPā. So Iām considering canceling this one too.
Finally, I paid $500 dealership deposit to reserve my MME, which I thought would get adjusted into the financing as part of my down payment. However the dealership said they donāt use that $500 in the car financing and I will be receiving a check from Ford for that amount, since Ford has that deposit money. I was surprised to hear that and it seemed fishy to me, but being a first time car buyer I agreed. Does that seem legit? Should I ask them for the $500?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This group has been so amazing and resourceful !!
PS: Ordered 08/30, received at dealership 12/05, picked up 12/20.
