Howdy all,
So this is a bit of an odd one, and would be great if I can get some ideas from the reddit hive mind, I went to the apple store on saturday and spent a couple of hours there, and we couldn't get to the route of the issue, and I wanted to make sure I had an up to date Time Machine backup before moving forward with any of the next steps as in the genius's words, they are more "nuclear".
Im having a weird issue where if I FaceTime someone on my Mac (MBP 16" M2 Max ) the person on the other end of the call cant hear me, it Doesn't matter if i'm using AirPods or the laptop mic. Now something unusual we found via testing was by creating a new user account and signing into my apple account for FaceTimes on that user profile, I was able to make calls and be heard.
Things we tried:
We went through and deleted a load of library files, but that didnt seem to fix anything.
We checked system preferences to check that FaceTime was allowed access to the mic (its not even an option on either profile)
Tested mic in voice memos to eliminate hardware (we did this before creating the new user)
Would love some ideas to try before heading back!
Thanks all!
