Issues with bootable MacOS usb installer.

Post Body

If it matters: it’s a mid 2011 iMac and I’m trying to install high sierra 10.13.6.

I tried before and had some trouble.

I erased the Macintosh HD on my first attempt. Now when I boot into disk utility the internal storage says “OS X Base System”. I’m assuming it will say the same when I boot into startup options (holding option/alt after powering on).

—So my question is this: do I need to go back and erase the hard drive again, before attempting to install the OS from the USB flash drive (thumb drive or whatever you call it)?
