MUD Builders' Holiday Challenge: Halloween Edition
Post Body

All players love when there are holiday-themed items released in their favorite game; it helps to get them playing around the same time to try and earn the goodies. Seasonal items are also great collection items: long-time players love dragging out their items from ages past to show off to the newbies.

So here are a few item challenges: if you have an established MUD, use them to spice up the lives of your loyal players. If you are working on a new MUD, why not use them as promotional items to entice players to try it out.

  • jack-o-lantern pumpkin - wearable, can also be used as a light source either placed in a room or worn.
  • flock of bats - wearable, when worn the bats change a characters enter/exit text to be more spooky.
  • treat bag - a bag that, when opened, contains some randomly generated candy or even items
    • lollypop
    • candycorn
    • chocolate bar
  • trick bag - similarly, a bag that, when opened, contains some randomly generated tricks
    • paper roll - can be used to "roll" a room
    • egg carton - can be used to "egg" a room
    • severed hand - periodically will wiggle it's fingers or grab at things

Obviously anything you want to alter or expand on is fair game; there are no limits to your creativity!

You have until October 31st to implement and share your spooky new items. Good luck!
