Help with mechanical disc brakes

Ever since I bought my hardtail, my brakes have not been performing well. Especially my rear brake. No matter what, the pads always seem to glaze over easily. I’ve cleaned the rotors with alcohol, sanded away the glazed pads and adjusted the caliper. No matter what I do, the brakes never seem the perform. Any ideas on what do?
