Hey everyone,
I recently got my Trek 8000 (2011/12 model, I think) serviced, and it's running great with new brake sets. However, I've been encountering some issues with the chain skipping under load while in higher gears. I'm considering upgrading the entire cassette to resolve this problem, but I'm unsure about a few things.
Firstly, if I decide to switch to a 1x11 drivetrain, would I need to replace the rear shifter as well? Additionally, would it be possible to simply upgrade from a 9-speed cassette to a 10 or 11-speed cassette without changing other components?
Some background: I mainly ride about 60% on roads and 40% on light trails. What would be the best drivetrain upgrade option for me? I'm looking for improved performance without breaking the bank.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
