I've been mountain biking for around 6 years but have only done true downhill stuff within the last year. I'm comfortable on most stuff at copper harbor (except overflow), Marquette (except Gypsum and oddly enough og dh also freaks me out), and a good chunk of the trails at snowshoe. Here I'm only comfortable on Talladega and drop out. Reach around is doable for me but it's a challenge, and one that I crashed on while fatigued at the end of the day. I definitely want to do reach around again, it's probably my favorite trail here, so much fun...but I don't want to repeat yesterday's crash because it did hurt! I went otb on some chunky rocks that I had no problem with on my previous laps. I think maybe I was just too fatigued to keep my center of gravity low enough, or maybe I picked a bad line, or used too much brake, but I'm not sure, wish I knew! I probably need lessons on how to ride the steep chunk.
We also tried cave boy and I walked down the super steep bits with the catch berms at the bottom because I don't trust myself to make the turn in time and not go off the cliff. ☠️
As far as my bike I have a status 160 (custom build, magic Mary front and rear) I'm somewhat considering putting higher rise bars on, even though it feels great on all but the steepest bits. But I also don't want to lose front end traction.
Any Windrock survival tips for surviving my second day here?
