Northern Ireland Centennial Commission Bill
A BILL TO
Establish a Northern Ireland Centennial Commission.
BE IT ENACTED by being passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly and assented to by Her Majesty as follows:
Section 1: Formation
(1) There shall be a Northern Ireland Centennial Commission.
(2) Said commission shall have 9 members, selected by the Minister responsible for culture, and members of the directorate shall serve a single term of 3 years.
(3) Said board will represent all political communities in Northern Ireland as defined by the Good Friday Agreement, with the remainder to be chosen for other contributions to Northern Ireland.
Section 2: Responsibility
(1) The Commission shall be responsible for planning and executing the centennial celebrations for Northern Ireland in 2021. They may do so in any way they see fit, with the consultation of the Executive and the Assembly, as well as members of the public.
(2) They shall have a budget of no less than £50 million to spend on the events, and more money may be allocated to their efforts by the Assembly.
Section 3: Extent, Commencement and Short Title
(1) This bill extends to the whole of Northern Ireland.
(2) This bill shall be referred to as the "The Northern Ireland Centennial Commission Bill 2019"
(3) This bill will come into effect upon being passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly and assented to by Her Majesty the Queen.
This bill was submitted by First Minister /u/FPSLover1, MLA for East Antrim, on behalf of the Ulster Unionist Party.
