This Assembly Recognises

That elections are an excepted matter within our devolved agreement with Westminster

That the current Government cares little for devolved powers, as they have shown with B790 in relation to Wales and Scotland settling their own electoral laws

That this current Government cannot be trusted to carry out the will of this Assembly by showing blatant disregard for already existing settlements

This Assembly Resolves To

Petition the Government at Westminster to examine legislation which involves devolved competencies

Petition the Government at Westminster to keep the voting laws in Northern Ireland set to 16

Petition the Government at Westminster to devolve powers of election to the Assembly at Stormont

This Motion was written by Deputy First Minister /u/Cenarchos, MLA for South Down, on behalf of the Social Democratic and Labour Party
