Battery swelled on gs63vr so I bought a new battery on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ML64T1S
Been running the laptop without a battery for months, just left it plugged in.
Put the new battery in, it started right up without being plugged in, only problem is windows couldn’t detect the battery. MSI couldn’t calibrate it either, so I turned off hibernate, unplugged it, and let it run until it shut off. I plugged in overnight, went to turn it on still plugged in and nothing, no signs of life.
Unplugged, nothing.
Held power button, nothing.
Pressed reset on bottom, nothing.
Removed battery and plugged it in, still nothing.
So I’m at a loss as to what to do. I still have the swollen battery, I guess that’s my next step, see if that turns it on. Any suggestions?
EDIT: plugged in and with swollen battery installed it started right up. Maybe the Amazon battery is bad.
EDIT 2: because I’m your average redditor, my intellect is superior to average man, so I deducted I should test the voltage of the charger. Voltage only 10.5v. And being of superior intellect, I, naturally, had extra 19.5 9.5amp chargers just laying around, just in case. Plugged that in, 19.5 volts. Plugged into laptop. Viola! Laptop charging. Battery fine, everything works.
