"Kia ora koutou katoa, thank you all so much for tuning in. We're here at Family Bar on K' Rd to celebrate the end of the campaign but I just want to give a final message to everyone in Auckland Central.
Undoubtedly the biggest issue facing Auckland is climate change. Auckland is a city surrounded by water and will be changed profoundly if the worst effects of climate change are allowed to happen. But it's not inevitable. We still have a chance to limit change change.
Public transport use in Auckland is climbing steadily, which is fantastic, but we've got to make public transport an attractive alternative to having a car. That's why the Greens will fund new projects to improve rapid transit across TÄmaki Makaurau, like light rail out west towards Helensville and expanding the Eastern Busway.
And we'll also make public transport free throughout Aotearoa. For years public transport in TÄmaki Makaurau has been hamstrung by the requirement to raise a certain amount of revenue from fares, which has forced AT to implement unpopular fare hikes just to keep things running. A Green government will ensure that public transport gets the funding it needs.
Housing has always been a big issue in Auckland and that's never been truer than now. That's why the Greens will build 12,500 new state houses and return tax paid by Housing NZ to free up $207 million for housing construction.
We're also constantly fighting for the rights of renters because we recognise that things are stacked against tenants, which is making living costs unaffordable and keeping families in unhealthy homes.
I love this city and I want to make it a better place. So for an MP that understands the issues Auckland Central is facing, who'll stand up for LGBTQ rights, who'll uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi, vote for me /u/forgottomentionpeter to be your local MP.
So thank you, that's all from me, tÄnÄ koutou, tÄnÄ koutou, tÄnÄ koutou katoa, good night!"
