Green candidate for Taranaki /u/BHjr132 attended a campaign rally to launch her campaign.

The event was advertised heavily on social media beforehand.

Good evening everyone! HOW GOOD IS TARANAKI? What an honour it is to be the Green candidate for this great electorate once again. I am running for re-election here after an excellent term of progress from a wonderful Green-led coalition government! HOW GOOD IS THAT? We have achieved many things in government and we successfully passed a budget, something right-wing governments have failed to in the past.

The crowd cheers as BHjr132 lists off some of the achievements of the Green government.

We raised the minimum wage to over $21 an hour! We began building over 12,000 new homes! We lowered the voting age to 16! We delivered free tertiary education for all first time students and we cancelled student loan debt!

Last election you put your trust in me to be your Member of Parliament and I hope I have lived up to the trust you put in me. In Parliament, I have achieved a voting turnout of over 96% - the 2nd highest of any MP that served a full term. This election New Zealand has two choices. We can continue on a path of success with the Greens or risk going backwards with the Liberal Party and an unstable coalition of minor right-wing parties. Here in Taranaki, the Liberals haven’t even bothered to run a candidate! My opponents this time are Kiwi’s TheOWOTringle and Forwards’ toastinrussian. Tringle and the Kiwi Party are good people and I agree with them on many issues but he is not a local that knows the issues that Taranaki voters care about. Last election he ran in the South Island in the Aoraki electorate and now he expects you to put your trust in him. Toastinrussian has experience sure but last time he was Prime Minister and Leader of National he went missing in action and Sir Fresh was forced to come out of retirement to save their party. It is clear that only myself and the Greens can offer the strong and stable representation that Taranaki needs.

I saw on social media earlier that The Front have endorsed me for this electorate. While I appreciate the sentiment, I cannot accept an endorsement from The Front as such I am turning it down. New Zealand needs a strong, progressive government and electing The Front contradicts that goal.

If re-elected, I hope to continue humbly serving this amazing, beautiful place. Taranaki, let’s deliver a green wave across this electorate and all of New Zealand!
