imnofox tells the Labour Party: Hands off our Tamariki!
standing outside an MSD office in central Auckland, imnofox rallied voters to do demand the state theft of MÄori children
"Kia ora, e te whanau, I am angry! Every week, yet another three MÄori tamariki forcefully seperated and stolen from their whanau by the State. I have been speaking to some of the members of the community throughout the electorate, and frustration and anger and resentment and distrust is growing. And I share that anger!"
"Last month we all saw the tortuous video of social workers and the police teaming up to steal a baby from her mother's arms, taken from that whanau by the state. We watched that mother, alone in the hospital, grasping her newborn baby in her arms, trying to stay awake as not to let the social workers steal her baby when she fell asleep. That's totally predatory, and absolutely traumatising, like vultures waiting to steal that mumma's newborn baby!"
"A month ago, we had Oranga Tamariki social workers caught bragging and laughing about the 'bonuses' they get for every child taken into state care. 283 babies were taken by the state last year, more than 70% of which were MÄori or Pasifika. This is our own stolen generation, thefts of our children which the Crown has no right to make."
"This is a government agency ignoring the views of whanau, ignoring the realities of the parents, the community, and making the decisions to take babies from their mummas using dodgy information in Wellington. No connection, and yet the Crown feels the right to intervene, seperating MÄori families. It's the continued colonisation of our people, just as violent and insidious as ever."
"Despite this inexcusable, brutal, disturbing, and shocking practice, what has the Labour Party done about it? This is the responsibility of the Minister for Social Development, the leader of the Labour Party! We have seen zero leadership from the Labour Party, sweeping the issue under the rug and ignoring it. Well I say to the Labour Party, you can't sweep our tamariki under your rug!"
"Three MÄori babies are taken every week from their whanau. The Crown continues to overstep, and the Minister has done nothing. Newborn babies, siezed from their mother's arms, immediately after birth. And in response? Nothing! The Labour Party stands idly by as our whanau are divided, as our tamariki are seperated, losing all connection to their iwi, to their hapu. Often placed in abusive PÄkehÄ households, disconnected totally from te ao MÄori."
"I've spoken to numerous mothers who've had their children lost. 'I did everything Oranga Tamariki told me to do, but they kept moving the goal posts' one told me. 'They told me to my face I was never going to get my kids back, no matter what I did'. 'I had no input at all into the report that went to the judge, and based on that report he decided that I would lose my children. Where was my input? What say did I have in the process? I had none, none at all'. 'It doesnāt matter what you do: if theyāve made up their mind that the baby is going, itās going'. 'I was raped while in state care and my daughter who is in state care is being raped too'. These are the heartbreaking stories recounted me to so many distraught mothers. This is Minister Lieselta's legacy, and Nothedarkweb wants to make this woman Prime Minister."
"Even just yesterday, NTDW made the bold claim that Labour 'shall promote the rights of you as a mother'. Obviously not the right to keep your child! Under Minister Lieselta's watch, hundreds of tamariki have been taken from their families, barely minutes after birth. There is no higher priority to me than ending this barbaric, traumatic, and racist process. We have suffered too much to have our whanau ripped apart anymore by ignorant politicians who don't give a shit about us or our kids or their futures."
"My message to the Labour Party is clear: hands off our tamariki! We told them 'not one more acre' when they took our land. Now they take our kids! Not One More Child!"
"The Internet Party will end this abhorrent practice immediately: that is a bottom line for any party who wants our votes next term. Because the life of a MÄori child and the wellbeing of that child is not up for compromise. Lieselta, NTDW, and the rest of the Labour Party will just have to deal with it."
"MÄori sovereignty means whanau first, and that is a commitment the Internet Party makes right now and always. I would be proud to be your MP, and deliver upon this long awaited and long overdue change. Hands off our Tamariki!"
the angry crowd passionately cheered for imno, finally a candidate and a politician standing up against the Crown for their theft of MÄori children
