The TOP closing campaign broadcast airs on prime-time television. It opens with a shot of party leader /u/silicon_based_life sitting on a deck chair in the middle of a native forest, drinking a glass of water. He sees the camera, and comes to his feet.
“Hello New Zealand! Good to see you again. This is /u/silicon_based_life, beaming in from Pureora Forest in the Central North Island. Last term in government, in conjunction with our partners, TOP implemented legislation to ensure that no conservation land in New Zealand, such as that which belongs to this beautiful native forest, can be mined or extracted. But I digress.”
“New Zealand is coming to the end of an intense election campaigning period. The polling numbers indicate that no bloc will get a majority in the house, but Greens and Labour will get pretty close. This is one of the reasons you should give your party vote to the Opportunities Party. With a consistent and centrist political platform, we will work hard for a moderate government arrangement, if possible, that works for all New Zealanders.”
The shot cuts to silicon standing on a main street in Hamilton.
“The Opportunities Party stands for egalitarianism, equality, moderate economics, and evidence-based policy. We have never wavered from these values, just as we have never wavered from our founding policies. Based on the best evidence that existed at the time, we have continued our research, and so far, nothing better has come across the world of public policy. As such, we remain committed to our innovative and detailed policy portfolio.”
“Although each Opportunities Party policy is meant to be implemented consecutively with all others, we know how to compromise with other parties to get parts of our manifesto implemented when necessary. To this end, we have already implemented our tax plan, which levels the tax playing field and aims to bring down house prices over time, our superannuation plan, which saves money without penalising out vulnerable older people, and our nitrate pricing plan, which works alongside farmers to save the environment and keep our key industries afloat. If elected again, we will continue to engage in these worthy pursuits alongside many more, such as health policy designed to reduce health issues at the source, a young families UBI to support children in the formative years of their life, rehabilitative justice policy, and many more. Please, go to our website or read our manifesto and see for yourself the many policies our party has to give to you.”
The scene cuts to the beach at Cape Reinga.
"When the polls open this election, think about what you want for New Zealand. If you want a moderate, progressive, evidence-based approach to government, one that takes everyone into consideration and cares about the different facets of society, and if you want a reasonable, evidence-based approach to policy, then vote for Opportunities. We have proven throughout this campaign our dedication to solutions that work for people. Think about your options, decide your vote, and exercise your democratic right this election."
"Thank you for your time."
Shot zooms out a fades to the TOP logo at the end of the address.
