Greens launch October 2018 manifesto in Palmerston North
Post Body

in Palmerston North, imnofox and AnswerMeNow released the Green Party’s October 2018 manifesto

“Tena koutou, tena koutou, tena tatou katoa. Today we are proud to release our progressive, forward thinking, and common sense plan for Aotearoa New Zealand. This plan will make New Zealand a world leader in the fight against climate change. This plan will start the fight against our biodiversity crisis, against the degradation of our waterways, and against the decimation of our wetlands and forests. This plan will lift thousands of children and families out of poverty, so that they can lead a secure and healthy life.” says /u/imnofox.

“Our manifesto presents a bold and achievable set of policies to make Aotearoa New Zealand the greatest place to live for all our people and our native species. It recognises the importance of te Tiriti o Waitangi in all governing decisions. It recognises our responsibility to protect and respect our environment, whilst doing the best for everyone who lives on our shores.” says /u/AnswerMeNow1.

“The crisis of climate capitalism is too great to sit around doing nothing, as successive National governments have done, kicking the can down the road for the next generation. Climate change is a threat to our very existence, and yet other parties refuse to give the issue more than lip service. Every term wasted simply worsens the crisis, making the necessary adjustments even harder and harsher on our people. Some may call this platform radical, but with the crises Aotearoa faces, the radical option is doing nothing.” says imnofox.

“Our manifesto also represents a compassionate policy for immigrants, which has been sorely lacking under the National-NZ First government. Bigotry and racism run rampant in the Beehive, and nothing will change if we re-elect National and New Zealand First. Although National has not yet released their manifesto, New Zealand First did back in August. It is racist and bigoted, despite white nationalist dogwhistling having no place at all in our progressive and civilised society,” explains AnswerMeNow1.

“We are proud today to launch this progressive blueprint for a greener, sustainable, and prosperous future for Aotearoa- something we still have not yet seen from the governing parties, stuck staring at the rear view mirror. I encourage all voters to check out this manifesto, and make up their mind, not based on the right’s rhetoric, but on the many progressive policies that will make real differences to people’s lives and the health of our planet. I look forward, more than anything else, to enacting this changes for all Kiwis next term under a Green-led government.” closes /u/imnofox.

the crowd applauded, all waving their copies of the manifesto (printed on sustainable sourced paper with recycled ink)
