Reform Deputy Leader hosts a Facebook Live video to supporters right across the country, warning them about the National Party’s extreme policy agenda.
“Good evening everyone! I’d like to thank you all for watching. I wanted to make sure I could reach as many supporters as possible as we head into this election.”
“The National Party has declared that they want to slash the minimum wage, in a move that will only hurt hard-working New Zealanders.”
“Mums and dads who spend their weekdays and often weekends hard at work, trying to support their families, and National now wants to see them take home even less.”
“They say that they want to encourage foreign investment into New Zealand, which is quite a nice way of putting things. They’ll be happy to see more and more of New Zealand sold off to foreigners.”
“Here’s the real kicker. They say, and this is their exact quote – ‘there’s no negative to this’ and ‘everyone in New Zealand would still be able to survive’.”
“They’re right. There certainly is no negative to this… if you’re in the top 2% of income earners in the country. If you make a profit while hard-working Kiwis break their backs working for you.”
“Reform won’t stand for this. We will always protect hard-working Kiwis from exploitation.”
“And we’ll stop New Zealand from being sold off to foreigners. We’ll ban the sale of land, including farmland, to non-permanent residents and overseas buyers.”
“We won’t sell it to the highest bidder and our overseas mates as National would like to.”
“Reform will help create a fairer New Zealand.”
“We’ll address the entrenched problems associated with the rating of multiple owned Maori land. We’ll ensure that people are valued, especially in business, because of their ability and expertise - not their sex or gender - to ensure that the best people are always chosen for any job or position. We will investigate the true state of any gender pay gap, by establishing a working group that will seek to close any such gap and consider the inequalities faced by both men and women. We will limit general or by-election voting rights to New Zealand permanent residents or citizens that have been in New Zealand in the last 12 months. And we’ll make sure effective measures are put in place to stop the exploitation of migrant workers with respect to wages, safety and work conditions wherever there is evidence of exploitation of migrant workers.”
“You might not be able to trust the National Party.”
“But for a New Zealand for New Zealanders…”
“You can trust us.”
