National candidate for Waikato-Rangitikei meets locals at Marton Centennial Park in Marton. He speaks of the importance of investment in education as well as housing affordability.
“Thanks everyone for coming out here this afternoon. I know it’s a bit chilly, so I won’t ramble on for too long, but I do want to hear from you and the issues that affect you.”
“I firstly want to talk about education. It is imperative that our kids are equipped with the knowledge to take on whatever the future holds. And I know with the rise of automation and the growth of new technologies just how important it is that our kids are well trained and can tackle any challenge that comes their way.”
“That’s why National is committed to increasing schools’ funding. We also want to construct new classrooms to serve our growing population.”
“Similarly, the issue of unaffordable housing is increasing and the current government believes that turning their backs to the problem will magically make it disappear. But we know just how important it is that hard-working Kiwi families can afford their own home.”
“That’s why we’ll establish a rent-to-buy program for all those residing in state housing. This will assist those who are unable to pay market-price for a property, and allow residents to have a sense of pride in their homes.”
