Labour leader and candidate for Manukau FTMP held a campaign rally in Papakura today.
“Thank you all for coming along today. Your support throughout this campaign has made this an enjoyable experience. Everyday people have come up to me and been very supportive of what we’re doing.
“When I became MP at the last election, I wanted to bring change to this country. I wanted to bring a new perspective. We have an opportunity before us, whether to embrace the future, or remain stuck in the past. We have the chance to transform this city into a modern city, with a modern public transport system, inviting suburbs, and high quality facilities. The governments of the past have done little transform Manukau into a modern city. This election, I present to you this opportunity. As MP I will promote policies that benefit Manukau, that will transform Manukau from the wrong end of jokes about Auckland to a model for the city of the future.
“We will invest in improving public transport an in building affordable housing. We will require rental homes to pass a warrant of fitness test, so that renters are living in quality homes. We will remove GST on essential items, to help the poorest New Zealanders eat.
“We must invest in a sustainable future, so that our children, grandchildren and all generations to come can enjoy a quality standard of living. I believe that this is the future I can deliver as MP for Manukau.
“The voters of Manukau have a choice, the old and the new. I can offer a new perspective, a new vision and a new future for Manukau.”
