/u/Fresh3001, ACT Party leader, today launched his campaign to become the member of parliament for the Bay of Plenty at the ASB Baypark Arena in Mt Maunganui. A sizeable crowd surrounded the stage where /u/Fresh3001 stood, though it was noticeably smaller than the one that awaited him at the ACT Party campaign launch in Auckland earlier that day.
“Ah yeah gidday, thanks to you all for turning up. I'm here today to officially announce my candidacy for the Bay of Plenty electorate in the coming general election. I’ve long had a special place in my heart for the Bay of Plenty, and Tauranga and the Mount in particular. Great landscape, great beaches, and great people are all found here - and speaking of people, Tauranga is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. An increasing population can bring good and bad, on one hand economic growth that stimulates businesses and makes everyone a little bit better off. On the other hand, it can cause problems with housing and infrastructure - and that's what we’re seeing now. The housing crisis is well and truly present in Tauranga and the Mount, and ACT has a plan to solve it - by reforming the Resource Management Act and allowing houses to actually be built.
“An ACT-led government will also benefit Tauranga in another big way: bringing more trade toward the Port of Tauranga, this country’s largest. By following through with the Trans-Pacific Partnership and creating more such agreements, more ships will enter the harbour to stimulate the local economy. If you want a choice other than the economically irresponsible Labour, or the authoritarian, conservative New Zealand First, you have it with ACT: fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Vote two ticks ACT! Thank you all.”
/u/Fresh3001 left the stage to the applause of the crowd.
