Sir Fresh3001 briefly stumped for the ACT candidate in the Waitematā by-election /u/ItsKittay at the Windsor Reserve in Devonport. The Leader of the Opposition stood atop a podium and addressed a sizeable crowd of supporters and locals who had come to see the former Prime Minister speak.

“As most of you will know, before my time leading the National Party, I was the leader of ACT New Zealand. And I’m here today to endorse the ACT candidate in the ongoing Waitematā by-election, /u/ItsKittay. /u/ItsKittay is a long time resident of Waitematā and Auckland, and would be an excellent local representative who knows what ordinary New Zealanders really care about. An ACT MP in Parliament would mean that two parties have representation on the right, none of which engage in decisive or bigoted scapegoating of immigrants. Strengthening the legitimate and official opposition would be a big blow to the government, whose support wavers in what is clearly a coalition of chaos. This shambolic government needs a short, sharp shock to deliver the message that it’s not on track and that regular Kiwis will not stand for it.

“It’s imperative that the far left candidates in this election do not win. A vote for Socialist Aotearoa is a vote to bring an end to liberal democracy, and the values which comprise New Zealand society. A vote for the Greens is a vote to entrench this leftist government and status quo, which threatens the economic stability of New Zealand and which will make life worse for regular New Zealanders. A vote for ACT is a vote for a bulldog in opposition and which makes a National-led government all the more likely. /u/ItsKittay will help National to call out the government for its wasteful, excess spending and harmful interventionist policies which will worsen the New Zealand economy. ACT shares the National Party values of liberal democracy, personal freedom and private enterprise. In this by-election, the ACT candidate is the only candidate which represents values similar to National. It’s abundantly clear that for centrist voters, and everyone to the right of that, that ACT is the only choice.”
