An URGENT PSA on /r/MNGoneWild

Post Body

As many of you know, we’ve been active in various local and widespread Reddit communities for almost the past four years. The first year of that was with the /u/SinnamonSativa666 account, and we’re coming up on 3 years as /u/MNSativaCpl. In that time we’ve seen Reddit transform from a place for fun with some OF promo going on, to the bot infested insanity we see today. However, through it all, we’ve been able to somewhat keep on top of the bots coming through our subs, and through exposure to the site you learn who are legit posters (be it people looking for partners, OF promo accounts, or people showing off for fun) and who are bots/spam. Sometimes, there’s ones teetering on the edge, but there’s one thing in common with them all - they don’t last long if they’re not a legit account.

In our mod journey, we’ve learned o be relatively lenient with people. We went through a spat of not being able to post to our favorite subs because a new guy became a mod who had a personal vendetta against us for not wanting to fuck him, so he blocked all our posts. We never wanted to do that to someone else. We did, however, understand the importance of verification, and still to this day some of our subs require a photo with the username on paper. We’ve verified for other subs that require the scrunched paper and three poses. FetLife has its own, centralized, and optional verification system. When Mrs had her solo OF, her and any collaborators (me included) needed verified accounts using government issued ID, kept in a secure centralized system. That was the only time an uncensored photo ID was required, and that’s tied to an income, government regulations on making content, and again, was stored securely encrypted on their server.

This brings us to the current state of /r/MNGoneWild. Of all local subreddits, that one has the lowest amount of bot/spam accounts rolling through thanks to their pre-existing spam filters and usually solid moderating team. However, the moderators have recently added a new verification step, of providing your uncensored photo ID proving your Minnesota address to the mods of the sub. When we reached out as an almost three year old account, to a mod who has communicated with us on issues before and actually resolved the vengeance blocking we experienced, we’ve been effectively told that those are the new rules and you just can’t trust anyone these days. We are faceless creators. We censor our tattoos due to one of us working a very public facing job, and the other working in a highly professional environment. In order to post to the biggest local sub (and our personal favorite) we would be forced to not only out our government name and faces, but also our address to a random guy with NO additional security beyond a Reddit mods word.

It’s Reddit. It’s not that deep. DO NOT send a random guy a photo of your ID with your face, name, and address on. We’ve seen time and time again on every scale from global to local how this would be handled if something went wrong. The “blame” would be placed on the user for trusting a random online with such sensitive information. Again, a moderator who was approved by the broader team blocked EVERY ONE OF OUR POSTS FOR MONTHS because they had an issue with us not being interested in them. All that did was lower our engagement with the community for that time frame. Now imagine if that person had our government names, faces, and more importantly our address, all while we had none of the same from him. This is dangerous, and bordering on a violation of reddit’s TOS. This isn’t shameless promo for any of our, or our friends’, subreddits, but I highly encourage each and every one of you to flock to MinnesotaSpice, MNHotwives, MNSluts, MNSwingers, realMinnesotaR4R, or any other local sub that doesn’t require such a dangerous verification process. Bots and spam are annoying, but your safety isn’t worth fighting a literal programmed bot. If you feel so strongly about someone potentially not realizing that that absolutely stunning “freshly 18” year old who was “just cheated on” and has an account that’s posted the same two pics in every subreddit for every state is a fake, then offer your assistance to the mod team on your favorite subreddit. DO NOT SEND AN UNCENSORED PIC OF YOUR ID TO A STRANGER.

MNSativaCpl, real people and lovers of this community, out.

EDIT They’ve subsequently removed the rule after our posts. This is staying up as an important PSA to be safe with your info and remember that this is Reddit. No amount of messages from mods of MNGW will lead to us taking this down.
