Looking for witty/snappy dialogue and an unambiguously happy ending with the warm and fuzzies. Boyfriend Material and Red, White, and Royal Blue were my entries into MM Romance, but Husband Material has left me feeling hollow and wary of where to go next.
Post Body

I'm just getting into MM Romance and maybe I just got lucky with my first two: Red, White, and Royal Blue and Boyfriend Material (I'd read Heartstopper as well, but I feel that's a bit different).

Both had writing and dialogue that literally had me laughing out loud, and the endings both gave me the warm and fuzzies - which is exactly what I think I'm looking for.

I bought and listened to Husband Material immediately and while I enjoyed some parts of it, and recognize that for some folks the ending and the associated commentary might work really well for them, I'm fairly crushed. I'm desperately hoping Father Material is a bit more unambiguously HEA.

Anyway, I'm having real trouble sorting through the various recommendation posts from folks that like one or the other of these books and want to know where to go next. I've enjoyed MCs in their 20/30s and doubt I'd like much older/younger. Witty/snappy dialogue is a huge plus. I primarily consume books via audiobook, and both narrators definitely added to the experience for me, so that would be a plus as well.

Overall, though, I just don't think I'm ready to pick up another book unless I know that I'm going to feel the warm and fuzzies at the end, with as few mixed/complicated emotions as possible. Maybe later, but not now.

Any help would be wonderful!

Edit: Thanks for the responses so far! I’ll come back in a couple hours and process through, but some quick refinements based on quick looks: not really into MCs with children already, or with large power and/or age gaps. Historical romances aren’t my thing, but oddly enjoy fantasy or sci-fi (with human MCs) could be good (they aren’t romance-forward books (not sure how else to put that), but Rune Adam from KD Edwards Tarot Sequence are currently occupying a very large percentage of my headspace).
