How “diet culturey” is The Weight of it All?

So I put the Weight of It All by NR Walker on my TBR because I really want to read a book with a fat protag (and the reviews are all so glowing) but I’m worried about the premise. The fact that he’s going to a gym and the MC2 is a personal trainer makes think it has a lot of diet culture talk — a lot of bad mouthing about a fat body, treating a fat body like a moral failing, like something to work on and “fix” through exercise (not realistic). I’m just not in the headspace for that. So are my assumptions off?
