Why don't MMOs do this payment model?
Post Body

Just have a service where you can pay $5 a month for unlimited access to the game. Then the player buys any expansions in the future.

You could also have a $10 subscription that lets the player automatically get any and all expansions the day of release. Maybe also, they get some kind of cosmetic item each month.

I find this model to be fair and also provide the devs with $$$ to keep the lights on and make some content. It's not taxing on kids in high school who want to play ($5 a month is something a parent would say "yeah, if it will keep you out of trouble.") and for those of us who are tight on money and want to play (like me and my wife) without breaking the bank. $30/month is a bit of a charge that is hard to justify with everything that's going on for us right now (we're trying to save $)

However, $10 is something that we feel MUCH more comfortable about spending to play a game.

Does anyone else agree with me on this? I suppose there could be a F2P option as well if it were setup correctly.
