Matt Brown not pleased with how much "the barrier of entry" to the UFC has become "so much lower"

MMA is a cruel sport for a ton of reasons.

One is that, unlike most other sports, you can have guys in training and the gym who are absolute beasts, who can go pace for pace with actual champions, and then never get out of the regional scene.

Another is that for most new fighters, you only get two, maybe three fights to establish your future. There are some guys who lose a few times early on and then go on huge win streaks. That's really hard to do in modern MMA. Guys are a lot more protective of their records than they used to be, at least in the early part of their careers.

Kris has a win over Da'Mon Blackshear, and while he's not setting the scene on fire or anything, no one talks about Da'Mon the way they do Kris.

Kris left that O'Malley fight with more confidence than he ever had I think.

It wasn't like he was an undefeated regional guy who doesn't know what its like to lose. He's lost before, got up, and kept grinding. He's still grinding.

He went almost 3 rounds with an insanely hyped prospect who quickly became a defending champion.

He could easily internalize that as a big win.

Getting slept by Canneti inside a round? Now that's a different story lol

You should rewatch it if you get bored.

Don't get me wrong, at no point was Kris winning and his punchers chance was about as low as you see in modern MMA, but he pressed forward the entire fight, landed a lot of good leg kicks that O'Malley has always been susceptible too, and landed a few punches when Sean was on the fence. It was a blowout but Kris never rolled over for him.

It certainly isn't anywhere near the top 10 least competitive 3 round fights. Sean actually got shit after the fight for not doing better and being unable to put Moutinho away earlier, and a lot of people weren't really impressed with the stoppage anyway.

The guys the ufc are signing now arenโ€™t going to become the next Matt brown

Why?

You just tossed that out like you have some kind of proof behind it.

Matt started training, and in two years was a 50-50 fighter losing to bums, and then immediately got a shot in the UFC.

Like the classic moron that he is (I think Brown has moments of powerful introspection, but if you listen to him at length he exposes his real arrogance) he's happy to kick out the ladder that he just climbed up.

Guys were less talented back then, he was losing MORE often than your average UFC newcomer, and he still got his big chance.

Now he's butthurt at guys with BETTER records against more well rounded opponents getting even worse opportunities than he got. Matt Brown is the guy on facebook talking shit about how no one wants to WORK these days because they don't want $12 an hour because $12 an hour was a good wage when he was young.
