If all is as reported, the NASL is in dire straits. It includes a few Canadian clubs (Ottawa Fury, FC Edmonton, etc.). On top of this, we have the potential of a Canadian Premier League, with one club already planned for this new league.
If the NASL does fail by 2018, where do FC Edmonton and the Ottawa Fury go? Do they cast their lot in with the nascent CanPL, or do they go with the more stable, proven entity of USL? Do the clubs fold entirely?
How will the NASL's failure affect Canadian soccer in the long term?
