Does anyone else feel like there’s a point at which the high end cards being so jacked up is kind of…boring? Feels like every legend is destined to get a 99, even the Hall of Very Good guys who maxed out at 95 in the past. Once you start seeing 125s across the board in hitting stats anything less feels like a letdown. Batters are so overpowering that pitchers who don’t throw 102 don’t seem to matter.
Ultimately no one really plays differently and the distinctions that made players unique are eliminated. Light hitting defensive specialist become power threats. Fearsome hitters who played mediocre defense get their ratings bumped up until they play like a Platinum Glover. Offline play in particular is basically just a home run derby. Half of the card series mean nothing other than a way station now (what the point of Awards or even Prime anymore?) for the power curve since the same year for that player will get an even more juiced Retro Finest later.
Does anyone else feel like there’s nowhere else to go? Is there a better way than just gradually building to 99s and then the dropping even more absurd 99s?
