Post Body

While smaller in scale than his previous rallies, /u/NicolasBroaddus has specifically gone out of his way to get a few press cameras in with him and /u/IceCreamSandwich401, inside the newly opened centre for the Great Tapestry of Scotland. The tapestry itself, made up of 160 linen panels and 300 miles of wool, tells the entire history of Scotland, made up of contributions from 1000 people across Scotland. A stand of Solidarity voting material and pamphlets is set up outside and kept stocked, but the focus is on the conversation inside for the cameras.

"I wanted to highlight something that, forgive me, I have only recently personally become aware of. Because to me there could hardly be a more appropriate metaphor for Solidarity between the people of Scotland, for all of us coming together as many small parts and weaving a greater tapestry of society, than this piece. I can't say I am educated entirely on the history of textile art, though I respect that it is one of the oldest forms of art in recorded history, dating back thousands of years in India. However even without being an educated appreciator, but being here, surrounded by this?"

He gestures outwards with his arms at the panels displayed in every direction

"I feel encompassed by it, part of it. I know that this tapestry was brought for display in Holyrood almost a decade ago, and that they allowed visitors to add a few stitches of their own to a new piece, the People's Panel. I would like to see that repeated, and a piece go on tour through every town and village of Scotland, not just in the urban centre. It would be true Panel of Solidarity, to go on display with the other. I hope to see the people of Scotland vote for Solidarity, and /u/IceCreamSandwich401, to see that and so much more accomplished."
