I am insanely pleased to stand here talking to a passionate audience like you. I am pleased to see so many proud Unionists recognise the importance of Devolution to a modern Union, whereby a series of nations as equals can work best together with fair powers to support their local communities. Devolution is an important part of the Union as it is, and should be completed in measured ways, and on subjects that are better delivered by local Government than at the highest level. Welfare is one of these matters, for the best judge of who needs support is the local community. This is why welfare Devolution is of great importance, to protect Scottish interests from a Westminster Government that does not have the best interests of Scotland in mind, as we currently see occupies Downing Street.

No matter which Government occupies Westminster though, it is important to recognise that Scotland is best fit to decided policy on Scottish Welfare, given it is an area that affects purely Scottish people. This is not a matter of Unionism vs Nationalism, it is a matter of recognising that Scotland knows best for Scotland, nothing more, nothing less. This is the central point to this referendum, one that has got lost in the economic failings of the No campaign as they have ignored logic time and again, when they have even bothered to show their face this campaign. The Unionists who have stood to defend English interests above all have shown their true colours, that they do not stand for a modern, progressive Union, as myself and Scottish Labour do. I am proud to stand here as Leader of Scottish Labour, and am proud to stand here to talk with you all about why a Yes vote is of vital importance in this Referendum on Welfare Devolution. There will come further debates on Devolution and the Union, but this is one where it is clear that Devolution of Welfare is the correct answer, as we deliver Scottish Rights to Scottish Voices. We must work to deliver this, for Scotland, and show for a second time why Welfare is best dealt with in Scottish hands.

Vote YES tomorrow to ensure a fair deal for Scotland, from Scotland and not London!
