Seriously, who are these people?

That is the question I need an answer to, because I have no idea. Who is this shadowy cabal of left-wing radicals that claim the moral high ground over us?

Who is this shadowy cabal of knaves and fools that claim ministerial office?

Who are these people?

After a term of watching them, I am still not sure I have an answer. I have watched them keenly, eagerly looking for some consistent tone or messaging. Looking for the golden thread of logic that holds all of their decisions together. Looking for the rationale and justification they use to defend their positions.

And friends, I have not found it. Unlike Mr Holmes and Mr Watson I have failed to break the case. Is it that these people claiming to be our government are so morally complex and mysterious that I cannot decipher their meaning and intentions?

Or is it simply that I am looking for something that does not exist?

Have I wasted my time?

Have I failed in the task I set myself?

If I might be permitted to dabble with some philosophy for a moment, Hanlon’s razor tells us to ‘never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity’ and it most definitely applies in this setting. Never have I heard a more appropriate statement for this current moment.

I have diligently applied myself to finding this current of malice that explains why this government acts with such wanton abandon towards the good people of this nation. But I have not found it because it does not exist!

It does not exist because that would be giving the government too much credit. Its existence would imply the government is capable of consistency and unity, when it is not. It only lurches from crisis to crisis, poor decision to poor decision, and leaves the people of this nation all the poorer for it.

I wish I could find one redeeming quality - one uncontaminated pore on the body politic, but I cannot. There is no small oasis of sensibility when it comes to this government. There is only disorder, chaos and a total absence of a plan.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. There is a clear alternative.

A vote for the Conservative and Unionist Party is that alternative. It is a vote for stability instead of chaos. It is a vote for intelligence instead of stupidity. It is a vote for reason instead of whatever motivates this government.

Election day is coming soon and we must be ready. We must be prepared to enter government and fix the issues created by the most damaging government in British history.

We cannot get this wrong.

I ask again; who even are these people?
