A crowd gathers at Londonderry Park in Newtownards to hear Muffin5136 speak
I don't want to spend ages waffling on, so I aim to keep this short, I am hear today to close out my re-election campaign where I ask you to once again put your faith in me to serve you well as MLA for Down Coastal. It has been a proud six months, where I started it as a newcomer to politics, and am coming here as what feels like an old hand. I have spent these last six months coming to learn how Northern Irish politics work, with the need for cross-community cooperation at the centre of everything. It has been a term where we have seen things that should never have come to ahead, but have worked through them and come out better for it. I am proud of what I achieved within the Executive, working with great minds from across Northern Ireland.Â
Earlier this day, I visited the Somme Heritage Centre just up the road, which serves as an education centre to learn about what Northern Irish troops did in World War One. Here there is an appreciation for Northern Irish troops of all backgrounds, whether Protestant or Catholic, Unionist or Nationalist, it honours them all equally and teaches people of the sacrifice these volunteers made for their country. It was sobering standing there, and I am thankful for the lessons I learned here, as they showed me that it is important for all people to work together for the best of Northern Ireland.Â
This is a lesson that I will take with me into the next term, as I hope to work alongside other parties in Northern Ireland, to create a better place for everyone to live. I hope to deliver support for community groups, and respect for all communities, along with boosts to healthcare and education. I hope to return here in six months time to ask you to re-elect me again, as I finish a full twelve months as Infrastructure Minister. I have a wide-ranging plan to fix roads across Northern Ireland, introduce comprehensive electric bus routes and modern bus solutions, alongside a grand train network.Â
I am a simple politician, and I promise simple things, I don't want to mislead you, or play dirty. I hope you can trust my record from this term to allow me another term of serving you. And in return, I promise to serve you well, serve you fairly, and deliver positive change for you all. I truly believe that Together We are Better.Â
Muffin ends by talking to people who attended the talk, and then goes around the town talking to more people about their issues, and why they should vote to re-elect Muffin
