Maroiogog and a few volunteers set up a small kiosk in front of Dorking train station. Maroiogog then gives a short speech to those present.
Hello and thank you for beding here today. It is my absolute pleasure to be here among you today to campaign yet again for the constituency of Surrey.
As always much has happened since the last time I was here to seek votes last winter, so I want to take a moment to reflect on what has happened in the last 6 months. I think the most mementous occasion for us all has been the passing of the infrastructure bill by the Rose Coalition. Within it there is funding to finally electrify and upgrade the railway line that passes behind us here. This for me is the culmination of 2 years of campaigning on the ground, within Governments, in both houses of parliament and from the opposition. A huge victory for Turning Point Surrey, and a powerful signal that local campaigns can achieve meaningful change for the communities in which they are radicated.
I have never won this constituency, nor have I ever been its MP. Yet somehow I have managed to bring more investment to the area than any of the MPs that have represented Surrey. Weird isn't it, but how was I able to do so? Very simple, I made it my mission to represent you in whatever way and in whichever form possible at every term in my political career. Never have I ran in another seat in Parliament, never have I lost focus. This is how you achieve results.
This is the difference having a committed local representative can make to an area, it could be train services, it would be something else. You decide what is important to you. This is why this term I have introduced two bills to parliament aimed at giving you greater control over who you want standing up for you in your council and in the House of Lords. Unfortunately only one of them passed, but even a partial victory is enough to make a positive impact on our country so I am still satisfied.
This election I am running against two candidates neither of which have even bothered mentioning Surrey in Parliament before. This is unfortunately the norm in current day politics, the location of an MPs seat seems to be more of a gimmick than a bond with the local community. I want to break this awful habit and restore the bonds between politicians and communities.
Without even being your MP I have already been able to shine a spotlight on this County and ensure many parties in Parliament looked towards your interests and passed bills with measures aimed at Surrey. Now imagine what I would be able to do if i were your MP. Please, vote for me on the 30th of July and let me continue my job with a renewed and strenghtened mandate. I have more plans for the future I will unveil during my campaign, so do stay tuned.
