Post Body

A large crowd gathers around a stage built in Sheffield Town Centre. Muffin5136 comes out to greet the crowd and deliver a speech

"It is great to be here today to kick off a campaign I am excited to get involved in! It is great to be here in Sheffield to see so many people out here in support of the Progressive Workers Party, and to be able to speak to anyone who is here just to listen to what I have to say in regards to why you should elect me to be your next MP for South Yorkshire.

First, let me introduce myself to you real quick, I am relatively new to British politics as a politician, but since a young age I have always had an interest in politics and working out how to make people's lives better. Whilst I may be a new face to you, I can assure you I have passion in my heart, and it is this passion that has already seen me debate heavily in Parliament to represent Progressive voices, submit legislation and amendments to improve people's lives. This has included attempted legislation to improve immigration rights for students and amendments to protect mental health.

Thats enough about what I have done, now time to get down to what I'm going to do as your MP in the next term.

First, I'm going to work with my colleagues in the Progressive Workers Party to deliver investment for the people of South Yorkshire and across this region, protecting and creating jobs by nationalising energy companies to deliver a green new deal. This will ensure that energy prices are fair for people, and that this energy will come from renewable and green sources, to protect the environment into the future. Sheffield has long served as an industrial powerhouse for over 200 years now, and I hope to see this continue with job creation in this key industry that we will future-proof by focussing on energy sources that will continue into the future.

Next, I will deliver a minimum wage that is actually representative of people's needs, a real living wage. This will be a living wage of £10.50 an hour, ensuring a real impact in your pocket with fair pay for fair work. For too long, the minimum wage has been inadequate to deliver for people's needs, which is why we will deliver this increase, to support workers across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and the UK, and to then peg it to inflation, to make sure people get the wage they have long deserved.

We are also investing in the future of this country, first through the green new deal to protect our environment, but also through real investment in schools. We will review schooling practices, to ensure students time at school is spent effectively, by having the school day start later, which has been proven to improve productivity of students. This will be alongside the training of 10,000 new teachers across the next 5 years and expanding teaching assistant numbers. These policies will ensure that students have the best future they can achieve, by making sure school is a learning environment for them to thrive, not just get by. We can think big together to achieve real progress for kids across Sheffield and the UK.

In Sheffield, there is a strong history of football, in there existing the oldest club in British history in Sheffield FC. Not just that, but also successful clubs in both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. These are three clubs which represent football in the modern day, and the sheer cost of it all. We saw recently discussed and passed the Supporter Ownership in Football Act to bring some fairness to the support, but this did not go far enough. Progressive policy will see real investment in grassroots football and other sports to ensure every child has the ability to get involved how they most wish. We will also ensure that the football pyramid works fairly for all clubs, and is not dominated by corporate interests dicated by the top leagues. I will deliver to ensure that British sports are for the people, not for sponsors.

On the topic of Health, a vote for the PWP will deliver huge investment in the health service, to ensure a service that works for all people, and serves all people's needs. We will pay NHS staff a fair wage with an increased wage that is befitting their work, and ensure that the service is free at the point of access more-so than ever. A Progressive government will never allows the public to lose their public health service.

I wish to end by once again thanking everyone again for coming today, and to let you know that I am always available to listen to your concerns whatever they may be. Remember that come the election, a vote for the Progressive Workers Party is a vote for a Britain Built for You!
