In Hull, SoSaturnistic rounds out his campaign with some activists in attendance:

Thank you, thank you. I’m so proud of what this campaign has achieved and what it stands for. A new vision for what we can be together, a new outline for our future. I thank all of you who have worked hard to ensure that the next government at Westminster is one which can deliver real change—a government led by Solidarity with communities across the East Riding and northern Lincolnshire finally placed at the heart of it.

Our programme is the tonic that is sorely needed and our membership is the means by which it will be delivered. Solidarity is a forward-looking movement with genuinely great people behind it, people I am proud to call my friends. They have the experience and passion to deliver key goals like comprehensive economic reform to guarantee decent living conditions, political reform to bring power down to communities and individuals, and an end to the inequality which towns across Yorkshire have had to endure. There is no reason that our towns suffer greater crime, that our people are sicker, and that our children do not enjoy the same opportunities of other similar-sized towns elsewhere.

My opponent from the LPUK, the incumbent MP, has stood on the basis of our fishing industry alone, and while I have outlined my clear commitment to support it, I cannot say that this is all that the people of the East Riding and northern Lincolnshire have to their name. There is so much more; be it our great food produced by farmers, our rich culture, I mean who could forget the music scene here?, and our admirable industrial heritage. We could do with some bigger thinking about the future of our communities.

I am standing on a holistic programme here to not only ensure that these creative, entrepreneurial parts of our society and economy can thrive with the proper resourcing, but also devolve more power to communities across England so that this activity is directed by them rather than Whitehall. You can take it from a person with firsthand experience on this subject, as I helped draft a set of cross-party reforms to our local government structures; so far there hasn’t been the political will to see them implemented, but with Solidarity representation it is guaranteed to happen and the delay will end.

We saw a large enthusiasm for change across Yorkshire in the last election. Hull of course kept on its course with the LPUK but not all parts were at the time; what have they delivered? Tax cuts for large multinational corporations, no new support for our schools, no new support for our NHS, no new ambition for connecting our communities. Indeed, their largest so-called achievement is cutting billions from the care of our children. This is a party of yesterday’s men who have long promised change but cannot deliver, having collapsed their last government in the last term. We need less parliamentary games and gambling with lives, and instead more real representation.

With your support we can usher in this change and bring back the optimism and hope for a genuinely better future. We can do this together, now let’s get this done!
