Good evening everyone. Thank you for coming.

We stand on a precipice, ladies and gentleman. Leaving the EU may be the most difficult challenge this country has faced in a generation and we must be prepared for it and Dover and indeed the whole of Kent will be at the heart of it.

Thousands of trucks pass through the port here in Dover every week. Bringing all the riches of the continent to our shores. Previously, they would simply get off the boat and drive to their destinations. But from now on, it will not be so simple. New regulations will make it more difficult for us to import and export things and it will get worse before they get better.

You will definitely notice the changes. Prices will go up and stocks of fresh food may run low at times. But there is a way to smooth the transition from life in the common market to outside of it and that is vote to install a left-wing government in this country. The PWP promises that we will help to ease the transition as much as possible so that we are in a similar position after we leave as we are now. We will use modern technologies to increase agricultural yields and invest in hydroponic technology so that we can grow our own fresh food. We will also negotiate with large supermarkets so that they stock British goods first and keep the shelves full. We will empower the rural population and spur on a 21st century agricultural revolution.

Britain has faced great challenges before, but this one of our own devising. I did not like the result of the referendum, but as a wholehearted believer in democracy, we must accept it, for now at least. It will be tough and it won’t be easy. But I believe that we can survive and indeed thrive outside of the EU and, maybe one day, we will be able rejoin the EU and amend our ties to the continent. But the future is not important.

What is important is the here and now and what the British people really need at this very moment. We need a new deal. We need a new society which puts ordinary people first. And so help me God, the PWP will deliver this new society.
