Maroiogog disembarks a train from Reading where he is met by a large gathering of supporters.

Hello there, what a great feeling it is to be back here in Surrey campaigning for our county. A lot has happened since I was last here and I think i owe all of you an explanation.

I have been forced to take a hiatus due to personal reasons. I know that when i so happened to take this hiatus we were on track to an amazing performance at a general election but there isn't much you can do in certain situtuations.

Whilst I was gone I have seen that other politicians have sought to emulate the kind of campaign I have started here in Surrey, such as in Shetland, Orkney and here in neighbouring Sussex to give but a few examples we have seen resurgeance in the activity of active campaigners who seek to bring local issues to their areas to their national or devolved parliaments. I applaud their work.

I do now wish to take credit for the resurgence of localism, but I like to think the success and noise we managed to make with our campaigns here had some effect, and I am proud of each and every single one of you who managed to contribute to that.

I am now in the Lords and I stand ready to renew my committment to you, the people of Surrey, to always represent your interests regardless of your vote and which branch of parliament I happen to sit in.

Speaking of representing your interests, one of the biggest moments of our grassroots campaign was when I present a motion to parliament to ensure the electrification and general improvement of the line i just took to get here from our Campaign HQ in Guildford. I am very displeased to see no change in the infrastructure. Several governments, of all colours and ideologies, appear to have failed us in a every possible way.

It is saddening to see the project put forward by our hard-working council, which I thank, was forgotten in such a way by Westminster. I today renew my committment to making sure that Westminster cannot escape those promises no more and that we will get what we asked for. Unfortunately it seems the only way to make this happent is to have an ever-present voice in parliament, like mine, with the mandate and the will to mnake the argument for Surrey, by Surrey.

That is the crux of my argument here today, my unwavering committment to this county is the best insurance policy we have to not be ignored in a national debate that is always very hostile to our region the South East. Whilst I am mindful there are communties across the UK that are more deprived than us, that should not be used as an excuse to always place us at the bottom of every list and not put in place the necessary solutions to our problems.

I thank you very much for your attention, I do hope you vote for me this Friday, and all the best!
