Speaking to voters in Derry off Waterloo Street, SoSaturnistic makes a final call to get Abrokenhero elected
Good evening all, happy to see you here. Iām here to talk about my colleague and friend Abrokenhero and why itās vital that tomorrow is the day she is elected.
Abrokenhero may well be a familiar name. She is a former party leader, a former deputy First Minister, and has been the MLA for Foyle for some time. She has been an experienced, dedicated, and respected campaigner for basic rights and dignity for people in this area in the past term and needs your support to be retained.
The people of Co. Derry need someone with a heart, someone with a mind for the people and community of the area. Abrokenhero gets this place, she knows the needs of border communities and understands the lack of investment faced all too often by communities in the West. Imaginary lines which divide our island should be no barrier to the opportunities and standard of living faced, and weāve put forward a number of proposals to realise the potential of all-island co-operation, potential which will mostly bring about the best in border communities like Derry. The SDLP has pledged to protect our health service, invest in childcare, and start moving on a new Derry-Letterkenny rail line to get the North West better connected. Abrokenhero is the only person who can deliver this.
The stakes are high. I know many of you might have supported the Labour Party in the past. This election, though, the British Labour Party has abandoned this island and its principles by propping up an Alliance Party. British Labour is endorsing and affiliating to a political party which is pledging to make small technocratic adjustments at most, leaving the real changes and reforms to the rest of us. The other day their local candidate came around claiming to still be a āradicalā force at the Assembly, yet the party is fundamentally divided on basic Labour issues like privatisation in the health service and workersā rights. If you want someone with traditional Labour values the only real choice is going to be Abrokenhero this election, there is no contest.
Tomorrow is polling day. Itās absolutely vital that we work together to revitalise our health service, to move towards better opportunities for border communities, clean up our environment, and cut the cost of living. We can do this together with the SDLP dealt a strong hand in the Assembly and with Abrokenhero elected in Derry.
