Nstano gives a radio interview broadcast across Humberside
Housing prices have become an increasing burden on families, and the dream of home ownership gets harder for the average Briton to reach. Tackling this problem is an issue of great importance to the LPUK. The problem here is simple: demand far outstrips supply. LPUK policies will help to encourage an increase in the housing supply. We will work to open up Green Zones to development, as much of that land has little to do with environmental preservation. In fact, a third is dedicated to agriculture, which has its own environmental costs.
A LPUK government will introduce bills to deregulate development, replacing our current planning system with a rule-based system similar to nations on the continent, with a focus on encouraging smart development. In certain areas, we will also propose streamlining the system to obtain planning permission to increase the height of 2-3 storey buildings to 5-6 and allow for more density of housing in areas where there is demand. We will also abolish landlord registration to allow more properties to come onto the market and lower the cost of renting properties. Finally, we support Right-to-Buy and helping new homeowners to take the first step into home ownership. The LPUK is the party ready to solve our housing crisis.
