#GEXIII [South East London] FTMP talks about Labour's plans for keeping communities safe

After the previous campaign event involving the Conservatives and LPUK's failed promises in regards to police numbers, and the positive alternative provided by Labour appeared to be quite popular with the voters the volunteers of the local Labour Party quickly set-up another event with a similar theme.

As soon as the volunteers had finished setting up the stage, fartoomuchpressure once again returned to speak to the people of South East London.

"A few moments ago I spoke about the importance of combating against misinformation in our election campaigns, and the misleading claims that had been made in regards to the number of police hired during the last government and the reality of their underfunding of this recruitment commitment.

Labour doesn't just understand that you need to properly fund recruitment drives for the police force, but we recognise that police forces across the country need to resemble the areas that they represent and work hand in hand with the communities that they are sworn to protect, and we'll ensure that our police forces are properly representative of the areas that they protect.

A future Labour government will also get the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice to fund comprehensive research on additional measures to tackle knife crime, and will work together with police forces and schools up and down this country to establish an educational awareness campaign to ensure that young people are educated on the hazards of knife crime.

We also recognise that part of the problem is due to the lack of financial support that has been given to community organisations over the past few years, and so a future Labour government will put more money into social programmes, especially in deprived communities to keep young people off the streets and into community organisations where they feel safe, can socialise with other members of their community and also get the chance to learn new skills.

The Labour Party is dedicated to ensuring that our communities are safer and more harmonious, and I hope that I can count upon your support come election day."
