After the last stunt pulled in South East London by the Labour Party it was safe to say that the people were not so concerned when a bunch of volunteers started stacking up figures of police officers on a table that had been hastily carried on top of a new stage.
After the figures had been neatly arranged a familiar face appeared, fartoomuchpressure, the local candidate for the Labour Party and they didn't appear too pleased.
"In the past few years, we have seen the rise of something that has been termed fake news by some, the propagation of lies in a manner to confuse the truth and secure political success at the ballot box.
It is a disappointing tactic that actively harms the democratic process, however, without people dedicated to calling out this fake news whenever we see it the general electorate can't make the informed response and act.
We have seen the return of old organisations designed to protect the independence of the press and call-out organisations that engage in rather shady practices, in response to some rather dire press from the Conservative Party but I have also witnessed some rather dubious claims both here and during the last moments of the previous parliamentary term.
I am of course referring to the number of police officers that were recruited under the last government, and the reason why I am standing in front of these figures today. In the debate for the last budget, and in a multitude of posters and documents since that date the Conservative Party have claimed that they've brought an additional 10,000 police officers into the police force, however, if you look at the figures closely then you'll realise that the figures simply don't add up.
It is rather shameless for both parties in the Blurple coalition to try and put forward this figure, as has been pointed out by my colleagues in the Labour Party doesn't even cover the cost of the salary for these police officers and it certainly doesn't consider any advertising for these positions, so this recruitment campaign isn't being advertised and the positions being offered are at poor rates of pay.
The Labour Party has a plan to hire an additional 15,000 police officers but unlike those in the Conservative Party and LPUK, we plan to properly finance this recruitment drive which will benefit areas like London, so to finance a proper expansion of our police force go ahead and vote Labour."
