The Duke of Atholl visits HK
Earlier today the Troe visited his party colleague and friend HK in Central London. He did some canvassing in the area for a start and talked to the local constituents. Some recognised the former Lord Speaker and cabinet minister and now Duke of Atholl and colonel-in-chief of the Atholl Highlanders and a few even got a selfie, although the Duke of Atholl seemed a bit unused to posing for such pictures.
To a few journalists and photographers who followed along he said:
“I am grateful that my party has such competent candidates running in this election. HK is an experienced and reasonable politician who puts the common man first, not the interests of multinational companies and the rich elite.
“I know that with HK in Parliament the constituents of Central London will have the best person to represent their interests as well as the interests of all British people from the Channel to the Herberdies. Ultimately we aren’t as divided as we might think we are. The interest of the worker is essentially the same here in Central London as they might be in my constituency of Kent.”
The two Labour politicians then continued talking to the local constituents. One of them was very concerned about the previous government’s cuts to housing benefits as she had family that might suffer from this.
“Ma’am, we will do everything possible to reverse this change and help those who need our help. We cannot simply expect people to move to a cheaper area like the previous government seemed to believe. There is an increased urbanisation in this country, and the individual cannot change this process. The jobs are moving to the city, and so must the workers if they wish to have a job. Therefore, we as politicians must also help these workers so that they have a place to live since a home is a basic human need, at least if Maslow is to be believed. Without a certain and stable home we feel unsafe and that stresses people, obviously. No one should be afraid to lose their homes at the whim of a right wing government that doesn’t understand the plight of those that cannot afford to buy an expensive home in the middle of a big city like London.”
The two candidates then ate lunch together at a local pub where they also posed for more photos with those interested and had a pint of beer.
“Cheers to HK for their sublime campaign so far, and the best of luck to them on election day!”
With those words Troe called it a day as he had to get home to his own constituents in Kent, primarily choosing to travel by train.
