ARichTeaBiscuit continued her election campaign in Northern Ireland by giving another speech promoting LPNI's education policies.
"Hello there,
You know I was reading some statistics the other day in between delivering campaign leaflets and I found myself completely and utterly shocked at the lack of investment that has been pumped into the Northern Irish educational system over the years, with the resulting brain drain providing a monumental stumbling block for long-term economic development in Northern Ireland
For example around 30 per cent of our young people travel to Britain each year due to the lack of spaces in our local higher educational system, and a rather shocking two thirds of those people don't return to Northern Ireland. The Labour Party of Northern Ireland wish to minimise this brain drain as much as possible and we are dedicated to pushing for a future NI executive to increase the capacity of our own higher education system.
As it stands Northern Ireland's outstanding student debt stands at almost £3.3bn, a figure that has risen a staggering 10% over the past year, and then only one in six of people in Northern Ireland have fully repaid their loans. The LPNI recognise that this isn't sustainable and so we will work with a future NI Executive to reduce the portion of the tuition fee paid by students to reduce the amount of debt placed on young people and ensure full access for as many as possible to third level education.
Northern Ireland deserves a higher educational system that is fit for the modern age, so in order to modernise our higher education vote LPNI."
ARichTeaBiscuit gave a mock salute and wink to the crowd before moving on to the rest of her campaign.
