As the cricket ground gears up for South Africa vs Afghanistan on Saturday, /u/bloodycontrary rocked up with thousands of activists, supporters and randoms to launch his campaign for the South Wales Central seat:

FRIENDS, ROMANS, CARDIFFIANS, COUNTRYPEOPLE!

There has never been a better time to vote Liberal!

What a rollercoaster we've had in the last months since the Welsh Assembly was set up. First we had a fledgling and promising Liberal-led administration scuppered by the aims of a self-serving Labour leader.

Then we had a disastrous and, frankly, embarrassing Labour-Plaid coalition that achieved absolutely nothing except the paralysis of the Senedd.

And then finally we had the stability of a Liberal-led government in the Bay - which is what Wales ought to have had in the first place, were it not for the malcontent and personal ambition of certain individuals.

And we've achieved a lot! The Welsh NHS is now the safest public healthcare body in Europe. Wales' communities - including this one - have more say over their own affairs. And in /u/wagbo_ we have a First Minister who will stand up for Wales.

But the job is only half done - thanks to certain former AMs last time, precious little could be achieved. The Welsh Liberal Alliance has big plans for Wales.

Just as we are making huge strides with our NHS, we want to do the same with education by investing £70m in creating a slew of apprenticeships across the country, and raise the pupil premium to £1500 per year.

We want to abolish council tax and business rates and institute a land value tax, a much fairer system.

We want to invest in Welsh tourism, and show off our beautiful country and cultured cities, like Cardiff, to the World.

And speaking personally, I want to give South Wales Central the representation it deserves, a truly liberal voice that's passionate for the area.
