On this terrific day I'd like to talk to you about how the Liberal Democrats have worked for you, and why I'm proud of our record in Government and in Parliament generally.

This will show you all that we are the best party for you, and how I hope to be chosen once again as your representative in Westminster.

Evidently I need to start with the railways, whose improvement I'm proud to have spearheaded in the last few months. Today I arrived on a train from Kemble via Cirencester, which we could never have done in the past. This is one of a dozen reopenings across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, and is a real boon for the counties.

Liberal Democrats have really made transport policy the centre of our focus because it has combined effects. It not only means that we may travel around easier and cheaper - and with less traffic and fewer delays of course!

It also means we can clean up our environment. As you all know, there are many fantastically beautiful places we can visit within a 20 or 30 minute journey. From the Cotswolds to the Marlborough Downs. The fewer fumes damaging our countryside the better.

But furthermore we will be reducing the UK's impact on the climate. We really must focus on green energy and transport using green energy. Electrified railways do this to a much greater extent than car or air.

Doubtful, it is, that either the Tories or the Inferior Liberals (they call themselves 'Classical' liberals for some reason) could match our ambition and vision. In fact, we know they can't. Here, you had a Tory MP for a few terms and what did he achieve? Absolutely nothing! On the other hand the Liberal Democrats have revolutionised transport and have a real plan for the future.

Empowerment is our motto for this term. We want people to be able to move, live and work as and where they like. We want to bring real liberty to the people of the UK, which I spoke about in Cirencester yesterday and will speak about more in Trowbridge tomorrow.

Mostly I just hope you make the right choice, the empowering choice and the passionate choice. Vote Lib dem!
