Post Body

Hello, I wanted to come before you and address a your questions and concerns about our education policy. The Libertarians want to ensure that people have the greatest choice in education for themselves and for their children. Understandably, this is a topic that we all care very deeply about, as education is one of the most important undertakings in life. Let's get into the questions, you sir, what's your question?

Questioner 1: I've heard that the Libertarians just want to privatize all the schools, is that true?

Well, it should surprise me that so much misinformation is out there in this election, but I want to put your mind at ease. We do not want to simply privatize your children's school. In fact, we want to take steps to make primary education more engaging for our children. First, we want to ensure that we have adequate facilities, and that may mean building new schools depending on what is needed. Overcrowded classrooms pose a significant challenge to engagement. In addition, we want to create a system that relies less on pen and paper exams and seeks to develop students and introduce more practical skills into schools like CV writing and networking.

Questioner 2: University education has become more of a financial burden for many, how do you plan to address that?

We want to be sure our resources are being spent where they have the most benefit. We want to focus students towards degrees that will give them the skills necessary to gain meaningful employment. That means diverting fee free status away from degrees that do not increase employability or wages for graduates and toward degrees that provide better prospects. It also means making students aware of other alternatives to university, like vocational schools, which provide valuable skills that can also lead to a good job.

Questioner 3: I know you lot support vouchers, but how does that work exactly?

Great question, school vouchers allow you to take the tax you are already paying toward education and spend that at a school of your choosing. This means we can have more schools competing for both dollars and students. We want to make this programme cover more students in coming years, so you have greater control over where your children are educated.

I want to thank you for coming out, I know together we can make education work better for Dorset!

Badges and posters are distributed with #PurpleWave and #PurpleWaveforDorset are handed out.
