Continuing his tour of Northern Ireland, /u/bloodycontrary spoke to a raucous crowd about how only the Alliance Party can represent Ireland properly:
And then we talk about the hard border. What do the other parties think of the hard border? Pop-eyed reactionaries to the right simultaneously do and don't want a hard border, in that their sister party in Great Britain is wholly intent on delivering a hard brexit regardless of what the people of Northern Ireland think. While the parties of the left have either disappeared completely - a minute's silence for Sinn Fein? - or have no influence in Westminster and are merely the personal playthings for egoist politicians.
Here in Derry we're only a couple of miles from Northern Ireland's border with Ireland. And thankfully we're in simpler times, where it's trivially easy to cross back and forth. Many of you do, I know, on a daily basis, to work or visit friends and family.
The Alliance Party understands this, and has a history of standing up for Northern Ireland's place in Europe and the World. We cannot, we must not, have a hard border with the EU. Preferably we won't leave at all; and at the very least we must remain in the customs union and single market, in order to ensure Northern Ireland prospers as it has been doing.
When you cast your vote in this by-election, don't vote for reckless antediluvian nonsense, and don't vote for egos. Vote for a party passionate about Northern Ireland and its place in the World.
Vote Alliance Party!
