/u/Fresh3001 rallies Dumfries locals against the incompetence of the Greens government.

Classical Liberal MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland /u/Fresh3001 today led a rally in Dumfries in order to highlight the incompetence of the current Greens-led government in the Scottish Parliament. Congregating off White Sands and next to the River Nith, /u/Fresh3001 began to speak to the sizeable crowd.

“Hello all! It’s great to be here in Dumfries, and great to see so many welcoming faces on the campaign trail. What isn’t so great is the fact that the incompetent buffoons running the Scottish Government just failed to pass a budget! But we’ll come back to that in a second. It’s hard to point out exactly when the Greens government went to shit - you could easily point to the day that they were elected, but we’ll go easy on them and say it starts with the new First Minister taking power. Too lazy to even come up with a programme to government, he decided to hold the Scottish people to ransom by refusing to submit one unless he was re-elected in this election. Even that is reason enough to vote them out of office, but it gets worse.

“Being seemingly taken with the idea to dismantle the United Kingdom, the First Minister decided to hold a Welfare Devolution Referendum without the consent or knowledge of the British government in Westminster. This is a bad idea whether you’re for or against the devolution of welfare powers - and I campaigned against the issue without taking a position on the matter. Referendums to do with the devolution of any or all power to the Scottish government should be done with the consent of Westminster, unless we wish to go down the slippery slope towards an unauthorised independence referendum. I don’t think I need to explain why that would be a terrible idea.

“And yes, that’s not even the worst thing that they’ve done - or failed to do - in government. Despite having an entire term to come up with a budget, all they proposed was a tax rate resolution - with spending exactly the same as the previous term. Not even any increases to account for inflation! Worse than that, they levied criminally high tax rates on the Scottish population despite a £3,000,000,000 surplus! It’s absolutely disgraceful to dig even deeper into the pockets of ordinary Scots when the government is running a surplus that large. Even more shocking is that the First Minister thought he could submit such a lazy and radical budget and expect it to pass - and then he blames the opposition parties for not voting for it! Ridiculous. It’s clear that it’s long past time to vote these idiots out of government and to restore an accountable and competent Classical Liberal Scottish Executive.”
