Hello everyone, thank you for turning out in such huge numbers here today. Today I will be speaking to you about the benefits of FDI to Northern Ireland.

NI is in need of foreign direct investment. Since the Troubles, FDI has been poor. Our large dependence on the public sector is worrying. By reducing the corporate tax rate, we are inviting foreign companies to set up here. This in turn will provide employment to people in Northern Ireland, reducing our unemployment levels. We only need to look at our main example, the ROI, who have huge yearly FDI figures, mainly because of their low corporate tax level.

The Alliance Party will also push for additional funding to be allocated to InvestNI. InvestNI plays a vital role in making Northern Ireland attractive to foreign companies, and not only do I think their work is vital, I think it should continue to expand into the future.

Access to the European Union after Brexit is vitally important if we are to attract FDI. Currently, Northern Ireland has a young, educated, English speaking workforce, with complete access to the EU market, all of which are attractive traits in a country. That is why I will use my voice in Stormont to protect our free trade with the EU after Brexit.
