Speaking to supporters from the Hebrides Branch of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, and to members of the public, /u/bloodycontrary took aim at the SNP, and questioned their imagination:
Look, I understand that if you're wholly and completely motivated by independence, the SNP seem like a good pick.
But the fact is they're a busted flush. They've nothing else to offer.
Look at the facts. The SNP's agitating isn't going to convince Westminster of anything. The fact that they hardly dominate in Scotland is testament to your - Scotland's - scepticism of their approach.
The Scottish Liberal Democrats, along with Liberal Democrats across these islands, have long supported regional devolution, and federalism. To give Scotland the autonomy it needs and deserves, you've more chance with a Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP than the SNP.
But what about the rest? The SNP manifesto is detailed, and quite good, I suppose. But it is uninspired. It relies too much on tinkering with the status quo. In short, it is dull.
The Scottish Liberal Democrats have a radical and liberal agenda for Scotland. Abolish council tax and business rates. Introduce a land value tax. Fix social care once and for all. Push for full devolution from Holyrood and Westminster. Get house building back to, and beyond, 2007 levels. Overhaul transport across Scotland, especially in my constituency.
The choice is clear. Uninspired and complacent SNP. Or radical and energetic Liberal Democrats.
