As we approach Polling Day, it is important for us to take a step back and remind ourselves of all the many reasons why you might Vote Conservative in this General Election. There are hundreds, if not thousands, or different reasons why someone might choose to Vote Conservative - but today we want to remind you of just twelve key reasons from our manifesto, our plan to ‘Keep Moving Forward’.
We are certain that our manifesto will resonate with many millions of people across the United Kingdom - we have made good progress these last six months, and as we look ahead to the coming term it is important to reflect on that progress; New police vehicles, billions more for education and skills, tens of billions for a British investment bank, more money for our NHS, and a solid plan for our economy - planning for the future.
But what are people in the United Kingdom voting for in this election, and why are they voting Conservative?
ONE - SOUND ECONOMICS
We have a clear commitment in our manifesto to work towards a stronger and sounder economy; we have already made so much progress towards realising this goal, with tens of billions set aside for the next Government to play with. We did this because it is the right thing to do, and our budget not only maintained stability in the economy through retaining all existing commitments and budget lines, but went further and spent tens of billions on new commitments too. We cannot allow the other parties to set us back, you must vote for the Conservative Party to ensure we keep our economy strong and keep moving forward.
TWO - NO VAT RISE
We had to make tough decisions to keep the budget balanced last term, one of those included a minimal rise in VAT. Well, at this election, we are promising you that enough is enough - we have recovered the economy to a very strong point, and now we want to promise to you the British Public that we have no intentions of raising VAT, National Insurance, or Income Tax any further. This means that any additional spending will need to come from existing budgets in all likelihood - but with tens of billions in forecast surplus for the next financial year thanks to our stellar stewardship of the economy, we are confident that we have fixed the roof while the sun was shining.
THREE - WORK WITH ALLIES
This term we showed what a Conservative Party in Government can do on the world stage. With the Leadership of our Party Leader, and a strong plan from our previous manifesto, the plan for tomorrow, we were able to bolster our alliances with other nations - but we want to go much further over the coming term. If we are elected to lead the next Government, we will continue to work with all our allies such as the United States and Australia, to work towards a safer world for all. We have already seen what the diplomatic faux pas of Solidarity can cause - the havoc and chaos we are seeing in the world now is in part due to their ineptitude in Government - so it is time to ensure stability and stop that from happening again.
FOUR - TOUGH ON MIGRATION
Central to our manifesto is the promise that a Conservative-led Government will start getting tough on migration - for too long we have been a soft-touch nation, and it is time to start strengthening our borders, by working with countries around the world to ensure our borders are safe from illegal migration. There is no excuse for coming to this country illegally, and if you try to, you will be deported to a safe third country within a month under a Conservative-led Government.
FIVE - REFORM PRISONS
We have already made huge strides toward reforming our prison system this last term, with rehabilitation featuring much more heavily now on decisions and punishment. But we want to go further toward reforming our prison and justice systems - by reforming and upgrading prisons across the country, to ensure that they are fit for purpose, we will create a justice system fit for the modern era. The Conservatives are already the party of law and order - support us to ensure that Britain is kept safe, and our streets are policed.
SIX - SUPPORT UKRAINE
The Conservative Party is unashamed and steadfast in its support for the Ukrainian nation in its fight against Russian aggression - we have made it clear that we will support Ukraine for as long as is necessary, but we will ramp up our support if we are elected to lead your Government in this election. With more equipment, more artillery, more aid, and more heavy weapons - we will show the Russians what it means to cause a war in Europe, and ensure that Ukraine comes out of this illegal war victorious, once and for all.
SEVEN - BETTER EDUCATION
Conservatives in Government have a solid track record of prioritising education, and just look at what we did when working with the Labour Party over the last year - reducing class sizes, regionalising OFSTED, and investing billions more into skills. If you elect us to lead your Government, we will deliver a revolution in the education world; by reintroducing grammar schools and academies, and by ensuring that every school in the nation is rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding. We will invest heavily in our education system - because the young people of today are the future of our great nation.
EIGHT - HIGH SPEED RAIL
We have made progress this term in the transport world, with the West Midlands Metro light rail, and the High Speed Four link from London to Cornwall, we are levelling up across the United Kingdom. But we want to go further than what we have already achieved, we will not stop until the whole United Kingdom is levelled up - so we will continue our investment in High Speed Rail across the country, and deliver a truly revolutionary transportation sector for our nation.
NINE - NUCLEAR ENERGY
Nuclear energy is the future, and as we work towards cleaner and greener energy we must prioritise and invest in it now. We are committed this term to start an atomic boom that future generations will benefit from, so that worrying about how to pay your electric bills is no longer an issue - with abundant energy through our widespread investment plans, this is not just a dream but an assurance we wish to give the British people.
TEN - SMALLER GOVERNMENT
The size of the state has bloated out of control, there is no good reason for the amount of money being wasted on simply pushing paper around - so, we will cut down on red tape, resist any new government agencies being created, and go further at the top as well by reducing the amount of Government Departments down to at most fifteen - but ideally more. The smaller the state, the more energy can be expended on accomplishing the things that really matter to the British people. No more bureaucracy - only results.
ELEVEN - SUPPORT FARMERS
The Conservative Party has always been the party that speaks up most for our rural communities - we have been holding other Governments to account for years on their failures in this area, and when Solidarity pushed ahead with their hugely damaging reforms to the agricultural sector, we protested the loudest. Now we want to do what we can to help and support new farmers, for example by helping them to buy their first tractor, to ensure that we steady out our food supply and stop importing food from other countries - in a both expensive and environmentally unfriendly way.
TWELVE - IMPROVE THE NHS
We are determined to improve our National Health Service - the gem of our United Kingdom - but there are so many things that we do wrong. We will boost the NHS with ten billion pound worth of additional funding year-on-year (almost £200 million more per week!), and cut waiting times massively. Additionally, we will ensure that we stop the waste in the NHS by creating a new ‘good purchasing practice’ charter. Under the Conservatives too, you can be assured that the NHS will always remain free at the point of use.
